About 70 or so years ago a canal was cut through the Cape Fear peninsula, south
of Wilmington NC, to allow passage from the Cape Fear River to the Inland Waterway without
having to navigate around the cape. The view from the bridge spanning the cut is spectacular.
This piece was painted to reflect development of the north end of Carolina Beach as it was
about ten years ago. It's much more densely populated today.
